T1 Weeks 6-7
/👋 LIVE FROM THE HIVE … 👋
BASKETBALL COURT REPAINTING
The basketball court will be repainted next week, starting Monday, 16 March, and continuing throughout the week (weather permitting). During this time, a large section of the area—including access to the playgrounds and garden—will be closed off. Pickups via Warner Avenue should not be affected, but we will send out communications if this changes!
KINDY WELCOME BBQ
Don’t miss the Welcome BBQ next Friday, 20 March! Families with children in Kindy to Year 2 are invited to join us as we celebrate our growing community. There’ll be face painting, an inflatable, a sausage sizzle, a live DJ, and Hive will also be running a free lemonade stand. It’s set to be a fun afternoon for everyone!
DID YOU KNOW…?
The Hive Seniors (Y3+) have been working hard on their campaigns for the Senior Leadership Committee, a newly formed student-body designed to encourage leadership skills and boost child involvement in decisions that effect them at Hive. When elected, our Senior Leaders will collect information from children across all year groups and communicate with staff at scheduled meetings.
Those running have been planning, designing and creating their campaign posters for the past two weeks - ready for the election at the end of this term!!
👨🍳 🎨 🎲 WHAT HAVE THE KIDS BEEN UP TO? 🏏 🧸 🧪
Here’s what we’ve been up to this week in our ACTIVITY CLUBS:
ART&CRAFT: diy ice-creams, paper plate butterflies, handprint lillies, flower gardens, hama beads, oil pastels, womens day portraits, fork flowers, dinner table paint party & jewellery!!
SPORT: lots of bin ball (our new fav!), soccer, hand tennis, newcombe-ball, handball, jack in the pack!
EXPLORE & DISCOVER: a BIG clean for clean up australia day, bug hunts, potions, paper airplane comp & DIY trivia!
BAKING CLUB: scrumptious DIY tortilla pizzas & flaky shortbread!
With the help of the children and Educator Leroy, we’ve been busy researching, designing, and building a brand-new enclosure ready to welcome some pet hermit crabs! We’re hoping they’ll be moving in within the next two weeks. Believe it or not, there’s currently a hermit crab shortage across the state!

🐝 BEES OF THE WEEK 🐝
Benjy (Y2)
For his kind and caring manner with everyone at Hive, Educators and children!
Thanks for being a great friend, Benjy! :)
Luca (Y1)
For his natural curiosity, especially in the garden! It is unlikely you’ll find Luca anywhere else if gardening is on… He is always so excited to explore (and taste!) the plants we grow, and loves to share what he has learned with everyone around him.
We love it Luca!
🐌 OUR GARDEN 🌿
We’ve been busy in the garden (as always)! 🌱 This fortnight we made origami seed packets for some cucumber seeds we had previously dried, went on a bug hunt, made some delicious rice paper rolls using veggies from the garden (!), built some trestles for our peas to climb, created nature paintings, and did lots of composting.
We also introduced a Kindy-Only Gardening Club this fortnight, giving our littlest bees a chance to explore the garden and learn the garden rules together.
Our Kindy’s made Nature Mandela’s and explored our Sensory Garden bed: smelling, touching and tasting different plants 🐝🌿
