Term 3 Week 6 - Dads, lads & all you special people...

HIVE NEWS ::

DADS, LADS & SPECIAL PEOPLE
To all the special men, boys - and women - who have such positive influences on our kids’ lives: we salute you! Keep on keeping on, and brace yourselves for some pretty cool gifts this weekend, created with love at The Hive. ♡

HOLIDAY PROGRAM
We’re almost ready - bookings for the October Holiday Program will open next week. We’ll let you know when the calendars are ready and will pop them on the Hive wall as usual. Book quickly to avoid missing out.

EMERGENCY DRILLS
The weather was not conducive this week, so we’ll let you know about this term’s re-scheduled emergency evacuation drills. Thanks in advance for your cooperation to ensure all kids get to take part in this importance practice.

GLOBAL CLIMATE STRIKE - 20th September
The Hive sent out a call to action this week, relating to the Global Climate Strike on 20th September. This communication was made independently, on behalf of The Hive’s parent body - the P&C Committee.
Use of the database and the call to action were supported at the recent P&C meeting and we’ve had many positive email responses from our parents. We also had an email from someone in Queensland, calling us ‘nuf nufs’ and offering to educate us in all matters climate. If anyone is keen - please let me know :-)

CLUB NEWS ::

  • Can’t tell you too much about ART & CRAFT activities, as most of them involve surprises for that special someone on Sunday. So for now, shhhhh - and happy Sunday to you all!

  • We dabbled with physics and explored the laws of gravity this week when we made catapults in EXPLORE & DISCOVER!

  • We don’t let the rain get in the way of a good time - and our SPORTS clubs have been busy all week, grabbing outdoor time whenever they can. It’s great to see our younger bees learning from the older kids how to play HANDBALL. We’ve had lots of takers for VOLLEYBALL this week too - getting ready for summer on the beach…!

  • We ran some special bad weather activities like COMPUTER CLUB and MOVIE TIME. Cosy indoor time for the kids, and a nice change every now and again…

  • We’ve loved watching a regular weekly match establish itself on the front grass - every Wednesday 3:30-4pm you can find the Y3s taking on the seniors at RUGBY! Good sports all round.

  • In BAKING CLUB the kids made lovely chocolate cupcakes with a healthy touch of beetroot. Did you know that part of baking club is a quick education on the ingredients we use?

  • The kids continue to love MOVIE CLUB with Ziggy. Our NEW IPADS are getting great use, and the kids are learning and discovering more each week - the little ones too!
