πŸ‘‹ LIVE FROM THE HIVE … πŸ‘‹

SHOUTOUT FOR HELP

It's time to refresh our Hive uniforms. We're working with Gene, school dad and local cultural advisor, to work on an indigenous-inspired design - which will be produced by the kids! We're looking for anyone in the school community who could help us with either t-shirt supply or t-shirt printing. Please reach out to us here.

Big congrats to Matt on stepping into his new role as Assistant Director! He’ll be working alongside Ana to support Sydney and help keep our Hive days running smoothly.

Don’t worry, Matt will still be leading our incredible Holiday Program and Sports program as he has been!

Ana will be on placement with Mr Leibel from Week 2 until Week 6, inclusive. You may still see her some afternoons, but a lot less than usual!

Evie

Evie is leaving us to explore the world from the UK, where she will be working as an Au Pair! We wish you all the best on your travels Evie, how exciting :)

Frankie

Frankie will be away for two months as she travels around South East Asia!

🐌 OUR GARDEN 🌿

We have been enjoying the first 2 weeks of term 2 in the garden. The garden has been looking beautiful with the new mulched pathways after a mammoth effort from the kids shifting and spreading 5 cubic metres of mulch in the school holidays!

We built a garden arch and planted some snow pea seeds at the base to climb up it. They can climb to 2 metres tall! The shelling peas we planted earlier are fruiting and the pods are fun to peel and the peas inside are so sweet!

We planted some cool season vegetables - cabbage, radish, and kale. We also planted some everlasting daisy seeds.

Plant profile: Old man saltbush is one of the most popular plants in our garden. It is a native plant that occurs naturally across Australia. The leaves have a yummy salty flavour and are rich in protein, antioxidants and minerals. They can be eaten fresh or dried and used as a herb. It grows quickly and gives us lots of tasty leaves that we snack on in our garden.

We also got our brand new signs, which the children helped design and draw! (See below)
