🥶 WARM LAYERS 🥶
Please remember to pack some extra layers for your child during the holiday program, as the weather can change throughout the day. Having a jacket, jumper (or raincoat!) handy will help keep them comfortable and ready for any outdoor fun!
CALL OUT FOR STICK INSECTS
Do you know your stick insects? We're on the hunt for some expert tips! If you have knowledge about caring for stick insects, or a spare enclosure you're no longer using, we'd love to hear from you. Any advice on housing, feeding, or general care would be hugely appreciated as we look to welcome some new leafy friends to the Hive!!

🐌 OUR GARDEN 🌿
What a wonderful term it has been in the garden!
The transition into cooler weather this term has had us learning about seasons and which plants thrive at different times of the year. Seeing the seasons change and growing food seasonally has helped us become more connected to where our food comes from and how it grows.
We have enjoyed bringing the garden into the kitchen. Getting to harvest our own ingredients in the garden and turn them into something yummy in baking club has been really special, and helped to consolidate learning about seasonality.
We have also spent many happy hours enjoying nature play in the garden, using natural, no-waste materials like sticks, rocks, water, leaves, seed pods and flowers to create games, stories, and worlds. From fishing rods, tiny houses, fairy villages, floating boats, and homes for bugs and birds, the creativity has been endless.
This term I have especially enjoyed seeing the kids teach one another about the garden. Our regular gardeners love sharing their knowledge - showing others where particular plants are, what belongs in the compost, where to find a ladybug, or demonstrating how to harvest a plant without damaging it. Seeing their knowledge, passion, and confidence continue to grow has been a highlight!
I am looking forward to having the kids in the garden over the holiday program!
