Term 1 Week 6

HOLIDAY PROGRAM::
The Holiday Program will be online and available for booking in Week 8 of this eleven week term. The Program runs 16th-30th April incl. apart from the Public Holiday on Wed 25th. Term 2 starts back Tuesday 1st May.

CLUB NEWS::

  • Baking Club were on fine form this week, making delicious healthy vegan banana oatmeal cookies which won universal approval!
  • Dance Club are loving the freedom of the Hall space with their 'instructors' Laura and Maria (Zumba Queen!). We're hoping to persuade the kids to run a little performance for us all...
  • Our Lego competition was inundated with entries from Years K-4 and some amazing constructions demonstrating the kids' fantastic imaginations - blown away by some of the stuff they built!
  • Our Sporty Bees have been busy this week with AFL, netball, hockey and much more - energy levels off the scale!!

SCHOOL CAMP::
Happy camp to all our Yr5 & 6s. So grown up!
As per the email (09/03) we will assume Y5/6 non-attendance for the three days of camp.  On ALL other occasions it's up to you, the parents, to notify us of any non-attendance.

Term 1 WEEK 5

Welcome BBQ::
We hope you all enjoyed the Welcome BBQ on Friday. It was our pleasure to provide bouncy castles, games, face painting and home made lemonade for everyone. Thanks to all the Hive crew who helped out and to all the Hive kids who helped decorate the tablecloths with their artwork.

Clubs::

  • So many of our children have been making amazing lego creations, that we've decided to have a mini Lego Creator Competition in the next week or two. Watch this space!
  • Our new Dance Club in the hall was a huge success, with 20 or so kids throwing their best Just Dance moves this week. We're lucky that The Hive's own Maria is something of a zumba expert, so we'll be making the most of that in coming weeks too!
  • Baking Club loved making lots of soft, jammy raspberry drops this week. A big shout out to Summer in Yr1 who has been super helpful clearing up in the canteen this week. Thank you Summer!
  • In science this week our Explore & Discover club has enjoyed making mud soup, creating their own mini electrical circuits and working with salt and water to create paintings. What busy little bees!

Term 1 Week 4

CLUBS:
As we plan for the coming weeks, we'd love your suggestions for any activities not already on offer. We can't promise everything, but all your ideas are very welcome
Baking club this week loved making Britt's classic 'karleksmums' cake - a traditional Swedish cake made with cocoa & coconut
Thanks to Kathy for running a fantastic Juniors' printing activity on Monday - we saw some fabulous little creations!
Lots of our little ones really enjoyed making hama bead creations in The Hive room with Billy this week - what a talented bunch!

WELCOME BBQ Fri 2 March 5-7pm:
The Hive loves sponsoring this annual event, which welcome all new families into the BBPS community. We'll be providing bouncy castles, FootDarts, home-made lemonade and face painting for the kids. And the P&C will put on some delicious food. It's a great event - we hope to see many of you there!

REMINDERS:
Please remember to manage your bookings - especially 'away' notifications for any booked sessions that will not be attended.
Also a kind reminder to please remember your touchscreen login and password - it helps keep queues to a minimum.

Term 1 Week 3

The kids loved making Valentines stuff this week - we saw some lovely cards with heart-warming messages, and beautiful hand-made clay hearts. What a lotta love...

Thank you to Mr Cummins for sharing his teaching space with our Seniors group. Our older kids will have a dedicated space for chilling out and doing some computer-based activities.

By popular demand, next week sees the launch of Dance Club and AFL in Sports Club. We look forward to seeing the kids practice their moves

Baking Club this week made the most delicious Anzac cookies (we hope some of them actually made it home for the parents to enjoy...!)

Be Team-Spirited
The Five Beautiful Bs are the values that underpin how we operate at the Hive. Special mention this week to AMBER in Yr 5, who's always ready to help out. Thank you Amber for being such a great role model to our younger bees, and for upholding our                'Be Team-Spirited' value.

Term 1 Week 2

  • We loved meeting some of our new Kindy friends this week. Welcome to all our new families! If any new parents have questions, please get in touch
  • NON-NOTIFICATION OF ABSENCE
    The children's safety is our no.1 priority. A reminder that you MUST tell us if your child is not attending a booked session. We can't stress this enough. Details on how to notify us (and the penalty for failing to do so) are in the Parent Handbook on p.8, point 7.
  • SEEKING HELP!
    Please support our recycling and sustainability drive by sending in materials for art & craft. Egg boxes, card, paper, kitchen towel tubes, fabric swatches etc etc  We can use pretty much anything, and teach the kids about recycling as we go...
  • LATE COLLECTION PENALTIES
    We've already had to apply a couple of penalties for late collection of children, after 6pm. Please don't be late to collect. We have other tasks to complete before we can close the centre and we need all children to be heading home by 6pm
